The DIGI point is worth dwelling on. The three incumbents all run 24-month contracts with early-termination penalties, and their headline prices are promotional — they revert sharply after three to six months. A three-month commitment at a flat price is a genuinely different product, and it is the right choice for anyone who is not yet certain which city they will settle in.
Mobile
Prepaid, 2026: MEO at 9.99 euros for 5GB over 30 days; NOS at 10.00 for 5GB over 30 days; Vodafone at 20.00 for unlimited data over 15 days. Prepaid is the sensible first move on arrival — you need a Portuguese mobile number for MB WAY, for bank verification and for essentially every appointment booking, and you can get one before you have a NIF or an address.
Contract SIMs with 10GB or more run 13 to 20 euros a month. Adding a mobile line to an existing home bundle costs 10 to 15 euros. Contracts require a NIF, and usually a Portuguese bank account for direct debit.
Home internet
Home fiber at 60Mbps and above runs about 37 euros a month standalone. Triple and quad-play bundles — fiber plus television plus a landline, sometimes plus mobile — advertise at 27.00 to 29.99 euros a month and rise to 44.99 to 45.50 once the three to six month promotion ends. DIGI holds flat at 27.00.
Read that promotional structure carefully before signing. The advertised price is not the price you will pay for twenty of the twenty-four months, and the early-termination penalty is calculated on the remaining term.
